The Victoria Academy of Ballet (VAB) welcomes aspiring dancers from across Canada and around the world to audition for our Professional Training Program, Post-Secondary Bridge Program, and Professional Dance Intensive.

Victoria Academy of Ballet will be expanding its 2026–27 Audition Tour with domestic and international locations. Stay tuned for official dates and registration details. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact our Admissions team.
Before You Register
- Students must be the required age by July 1st, 2027 to qualify for our auditions.
- Online registration closes at 6:00 PM the day before each audition. Walk-ins are welcome. Please bring $35 cash (exact change).
- You are required to upload the following images: headshot / tendu a la seconde / first arabesque (please refer to the sample images in Audition Requirements below). These photos do NOT have to be professional photos.
- This class will be an intermediate to advanced level ballet class with barre and centre work (no pointe work).
- Following the submission of your audition registration and closer to your audition date, you will receive an Information Package with further details.
- Auditions are followed by an information session about Victoria Academy of Ballet for auditionees and their parents.
Choose Your VAB Program
Victoria Academy of Ballet offers programs for dancers at all levels.
Professional Training Program (PTP)
Designed for dancers age 11+, PTP combines academics with exceptional dance training, allowing students to pursue both artistic and academic excellence. Students have academic school in the morning and dance classes in the afternoon. Through personalized coaching and well-rounded training, students are supported in reaching their full potential while maintaining a balanced schedule that promotes mental wellness, family time, and overall well-being.
Eligibility: Students must be a minimum of 11 years old by July 1st, 2027 to qualify for PTP.
Post-Secondary Bridge Program
A three-year diploma program for graduating dancers ready to turn their passion into a profession. Through an extensive curriculum that combines advanced technical training, the choreographic process, anatomy, dance history, and personal development, students refine and hone their technical and artistic skills while gaining valuable industry insight and professional guidance. Graduates earn a diploma and leave fully prepared to take the next step on their career path.
Eligibility: Applicants should be 19 years of age or possess a Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent. Applicants under 19 must have parent or legal guardian’s consent and be able to demonstrate the maturity and technical ability required for the Bridge Program. Admission is through a successful audition, interview, and print application.
Professional Dance Intensive (PDI)
The three-week intensive intended for dedicated dancers pursuing professional-level training. Students participate in a comprehensive schedule that includes ballet, pointe, variations, contemporary, repertoire, pas de deux (level appropriate), men’s work, conditioning, and more. PDI can be used as an audition period for full-year vocational programs.
Eligibility: Students must be a minimum of 11 years old by July 1st, 2027 to qualify for PDI.
All three programs are available through the same audition process. Students will need to indicate if they are auditioning for summer or full-year programming when they audition.
Can’t Attend an In-Person Audition?
Both options are assessed by VAB faculty and are an equally valid way to audition.
Zoom Audition
If don’t live in any of these locations, you can still audition with VAB’s faculty by participating in an online class via a live Zoom audition.
Video Audition
If none of the previous stages of auditions work, you can still audition via video submission (accepted year-round).

How old do I need to be to audition?
Students must be the required age by July 1st, 2027 to qualify for our auditions. Students must be a minimum of 11 years old by July 1st, 2027 to qualify for the Professional Training Program and the Professional Dance Intensive.
